Another element in this image which pleases me is the way in which Francesca's body disappears softly into the shadows just below the ribs. Against this shadow area the mans striped shirt stands out in stark relief. Notice also how the shirt hangs forwards on both sides of the female body, at almost exactly the same angle as the legs.
