Silk draping Francesca's back
Francesca's amazing figure inspires my female photography, making this back view something special. The draped silk cuts the figure in two, but the image remains unified thanks to the plain black background. This sets up a tension between the tendency to view the image as a whole, or as the sum of it's individual parts. Click here to return to

This element in my work was inspired by the etchings and paintings of the German artist Willi Kissmer. Kissmer used just one model for nearly all his work ( his wife ), and by coincidence his wife's figure is not so different to Francesca's. This idea, to use one, or a limited number of models is a good one I think.
When you restrict yourself to one or two models your forced to work harder to create variety in your work. After all if you have a hundred different models, you can do pretty much the same kind of thing over and over again, and the results will vary simply due to the unique nature of the different models.
