There is something historically relevant about the juxtaposition of the Japanese Kimono, and the Venetian Mask. Venice grew in importance and wealth from the tenth to the sixteenth century by virtue of it's trading links with the east, through the Silk Route. The combination of an eastern silk Kimono and a western Venetian mask is therefore not quite as incongruous as it might seem at first glance.
